Doraku Sushi & Sake Bar @ Life Centre, Kuala Lumpur

Located at the center of Kuala Lumpur - Life centre, there is a Japanese restaurant called Doraku. This is not a typical Japanese restaurant as Doraku, which literally means “road to happiness” in Japanese, is the new hip, chic, and inventive hub of happiness for Kuala Lumpur urbanites.

At Doraku, a unique blend of sushi, sake, cuisine, art, and music celebrate the rich origins of Japan with upscale Latin American and Pan Asian cuisine, zen décor, and a fully-appointed bar serving an expansive selection of your favorite alcohol.

Doraku opens daily for lunch and dinner, serving drinks and good music well past midnight. Most of their foods are very delicious. The ambiance is excellent and is full of Japanese atmosphere. This is a great place for friends gathering. The following are the food that I have tried.

                                                            Salmon Carpaccio (RM28)

This is the first dish - Salmon Carpaccio, where thinly sliced salmon sashimi and red onion is decoratively garnished with creamy ginger sauce and tobiko. It is tasty! I like the salmon so much! The salmon is fresh, tender and melt in my mouth instantly. Great~~

Doraku also offers impressive beverage list in which different types of drinks are served. This is a cup of cocktail, sorry I can't remember the name.^^

                                                                   Lemon Lychee Tea

                                                                       Salmon Sushi

What a big tuna meat! He is doing the next dish.

                                                            Ahi Hawaiian Poke (RM36)
A plate of cold dish with fresh ahi tuna, sweet onion, seaweed mix & nuts marinated in Doraku special sauce garnished with crispy green onion & spring mix. It looks a normal salad, but the taste is awesome great! I have never tried so nice salad before! The tuna is tastes great with the salad sauce. Love it so much~~Highly Recommend!!

                                                             Sweet Philly Roll (RM45)

Sweet Philly Roll, is marinated salmon, cream cheese, avocado and rice roll with crispy sweet potato string topped with eel sauce. A nice dish, it tastes crispy.

                                                           Japanese Beef Ribs (RM58)

Wow! Actually this beef rib is a little expensive. It is the chef’s daily special, it tastes not bad. The meat is on the chewy side, coated with a layer of smoky special sauce. I like the sauce, but the beef is not soft enough. I would prefer tender meat personally.

                                                                 Emperor Roll (RM38)

Emperor Roll is made with tuna, salmon, crab, shrimp, scallop and avocado rolled together then crusted in panko breadcrumbs and flash fried, served over a bed of spring mix and tempura sweet onion finished with special Aioli Sauce. It smell fragrant and tastes soft with crispy outer skin. A delicious Emperor Roll!

                                                                  God of Fire (RM33)

A spicy tuna roll with cucumber and chilli topped with tuna sashimi, chili, tobiko and spicy garlic aioli. Before I eat this sushi, I don't know the dish name. When I eat it, it is super spicy!! I can't eat spicy food, especially like this "Oh my god" spicy roll. No wonder the dish name is called God of Fire.

Brownie Tempura Ice (RM16)

Brownie Tempura served with vanilla ice cream, strawberry puree and Hershey's chocolate syrup. It's a creative dessert. They deep fried the brownie to be the tempura. It tastes not bad.

                                                     Assorted Cherry Cake Fruits (RM18)

Assorted Cherry Cake Fruits - the baked cheese cake is served together with mango sorbet, blueberry sauce, cookies and mixed fruits. It's a beautiful dessert. I love the mango sorbet, because it's filled with mango fragrance.

                                                                   Interior design

open area and can look for night view

Overall it's a good restaurant, but the price is not cheap. Average expense is about RM80~120 per person. If I come back again, I will order Salmon Carpaccio & Ahi Hawaiian Poke again.
