Samplings on the Fourteenth - Christmas Dinner 2013 @ Berjaya Times Square Hotel

Samplings on the Fourteenth is located on the 14 floors of Berjaya Times Square Hotel, features full-height glass walls that offer a perfect view of the KL skyline. Samplings on the Fourteenth is a fine dining restaurant which set up by Berjaya University College of Hospitality. It has training courses for the students during day time while become a high-class restaurant at night. It is meaningful and interesting!


This is my first time to visit Samplings on the Fourteenth. I have a happy dining experience at this restaurant. Thanks Stephanie Ambrose invited me to taste their "Christmas Eve Dinner". I really enjoy the food, ambience and service on that day. Every waiter or waitress is smiling and friendly.

Samplings on the Fourteenth is a Western restaurant. The interior design is vibrant with modern feel. Dining at here, make me feel comfortable and casual. I like their atmosphere!

                         Live band for celebrating the Christmas day! The atmosphere is so good~~  

                                 Red wine - It tastes smooth and nice, not sour or astringent at all.

       
       There are 2~3 kinds of breads that can choose. I choose the grain bread. A nutrient and healthy bread.

               Smoked Salmon and Prawns Salad with Tomato Tart, Lemon Chive Vinaigrette
This is a lavish salad. The smoked salmon is my favorite. The salmon is tender and properly seasoning. Talking about the prawn salad, it is a creative salad. The chef use crispy cookies to folder with tomato, and top with fresh prawns. The taste is fresh and nice.

                                                           Cream of Pumpkin Soup 
A rich soup of fresh pumpkin with a dollop of sour cream. What a wonderful soup! I love it so much. The pumpkin soup is dense and filled with pumpkin fragrance. I can feel the natural sweetness from the pumpkin. At the center of the plate, there is the mashed pumpkin. You must try it, it is fantastic yummy!

                                                               Minted Watermelon Sorbet
This dish serves with watermelon sorbet topped on the blueberry and mint. An refreshing sorbet can clean our palates.

                                                                      Pan Seared Cod
This dish serves with potato and leek mash, wild mushrooms, cured cherry tomato and olive tart with saffron nage. Thumbs up for it! The dish is not only attracting my appetite, but also tastes great! The cod is so tender that just like melt in my mouth when I eat it. It is very fresh without any fishy odor. If you are a seafood lover, you can't miss it. Highly recommend!

                                                               Christmas Roast Turkey
Christmas Roast Turkey served with bacon wrapped sage and onion stuffing, roasted potatoes, buttered brussels sprouts and carrots with cranberry and apple sauce. The turkey is juicy and succulent. A nice main course to be the Christmas dinner.

                                                             Chestnut Mille Feuille
Chestnut Mille Feuille served with orange flavored Christmas pudding and cinnamon ice cream. The last dish is sweet dessert to sweet your heart :D I like the chestnut mille feuille, because it tastes soft with dense chestnut custard. Add some strawberries with chestnut mille feuille is a good combination. You can feel sweet and sour taste at the same time which make the dessert refreshing without greasy feeling.

The taste date is 29 Nov 2013, a happy Friday night. I really enjoy the food at Samplings on the Fourteenth, especially the Pan seared cod, Cream of pumpkin soup, and smoked salmon & prawn salad etc...Thanks Stephanie Ambrose and Chef Valmurugan Subramaniam again to let me taste this wonderful dinner.
